On Jan-20-07 at 13:09:52 PST, seller added the following information:Recommended Usage of the X-RES-3 and the X-Res-12;
The X-RES in both the 3 or 12 lb capacity are both available for the same price. These two weight capacities have different display resolution. The X 3 reads to .0001 lbs and the X 12 reads to .0005 lbs.
In order to recommend usage I would need to know what they would be used for. Counting? If so what type and size of item is being counted? The X 3 is best for very light weight items such as small plastic or aluminum parts.
Will they be used for ink mixing? If so the X 3 is best when small amounts of ink are being mixed. The X 12 is best when 1 lb or more of ink is being mixed.
Information regarding Pantone Inks;
The X-RES scale, does not have Pantone formulas built into them. That's because Pantone is an actual company and it owns the formulas - they are proprietary. Pantone has contracted with companies to make these scales and only the scales licsensed by Pantone may have the formulas. The X-RES offers very high resolution which is the primary selling point. In order to mix the Pantone formulas with an X-RES scale, the operator would need to access the formulas from a Pantone book which lists all the formulas. These Pantone books can be purchased through any Graphic Arts distributor. The only advantage that a scale with the formulas in it offers is the convenience of having the formula in the scale as opposed to the Pantone book.The X-RES has high resolution making it a great scale for mixing ink.
